The objectives of the society are to promote the study and teaching of economics on the widest basis, in accordance with the Scottish tradition of political economy inspired by Adam Smith, and to provide a forum for the discussion of Scottish economic problems and their relationship to the political and social life of Scotland.

 The Scottish Economics Society has created a new corporate tartan that honours the great Scottish economist and philosopher Adam Smith.

Application for the 2012 SES Annual Conference will start in December 2011. The conference will take place from April 16th-18th 2012 in Perth.
