SIR JAMES STEUART: ECONOMICS AND POLITICS
Sir James Steuart is usually regarded as a ‘mercantilist’ or at best, as a kind of interventionist anachronism in an age dominated by liberal thought. These views have prompted the general conclusion that steuart was out of tune with the temper of his times,2, so that it seems worthwhile to note one aspect of his work where this is certainly not the case.
